About Us

March 24, 2020: Because of COVID-19 concerns, some programs at FVCS in Sandwich are currently closed. They are: Voluntary Action' Center's (VAC's) Congregate Lunch Meal, Active Adult Daily Activities and Adult Day Service until we have further direction from various government offices.

Home Services are still running as are VAC's Transportation and Meals on Wheels.

Fox Valley Older Adult Services (FVOAS) is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) senior services agency which has been in existence since 1972, whose mission is to help seniors to remain in their own homes; improve and enrich vital, independent living; enhance dignity and self-respect; and encourage participation in community life. FVOAS serves residents of DeKalb, Kane, Kendall and LaSalle Counties.
Participants enjoy the following programs and services:
Active Adult Programs, these programs prevent isolation and depression; encourage socialization; promote physical activity and healthy eating and offer entertainment.
Adult Day Service, staffed by a registered nurse, certified nurses’ aides and activity aides. Many of the ADS clients are experiencing memory loss due to Alzheimer’s Disease, other forms of dementia, Parkinson’s Disease, mobility or isolation issues.
Home Services is staffed by background checked and trained aides to provide personal and home care in the client’s home. This program assists the senior in meeting the needs of daily living and prevents premature entry into a nursing home.
Daily Lunch Program and Transportation is offered in partnership with Voluntary Action Center of DeKalb.
The FVOAS Board of Directors and staff strive to serve the communities in a multi-county area of the FVOAS Community Center. Our Center is open to public use for activities by Boy Scouts, Education Foundations, Chambers of Commerce, Alcoholic Anonymous, Multiple Sclerosis Support Group and many other events and activities important to the community. In addition to community activities the Center is available for private event use.
