Vanguard Gifted Academy Announces Fall Events and Serves as Hub for Math Kangaroo Competition

BATAVIA, IL – October 21, 2025 – Vanguard Gifted Academy is hosting a series of engaging, educational events open to the entire community this fall, offering exceptional opportunities in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) fields, problem-solving, and mathematics. Furthermore, Vanguard is proud to announce its role as a Math Kangaroo Center for both the fall team competition and the spring individual competition, with the Head of School serving as the Math Kangaroo State Director for Illinois.

Upcoming Community Engagement Opportunities

BatFest Community Outreach
Vanguard Gifted Academy will be at BatFest in Batavia this Saturday, October 25th. Stop by our table for fun games and puzzles. We’ll have treats available—offering candy for trick-or-treating or a 3D-printed alternative for those who prefer it.
 
Math Circle (Free)
Saturday, November 1, 2025 | 10:10 AM – 12:12 PM at Vanguard Gifted Academy (Held the first Saturday of every month)
We are proud to host our Math Circle, and the event on November 1st marks our third gathering. This program is free and designed for elementary students to foster a love for math through hands-on problem-solving and interactive exploration.
  • This is a free community event, but pre-registration is kindly requested for accurate snack planning.
  • Adults are also invited to participate in their own puzzle-solving activities in a separate room.
Veterans Day 3D Design Challenge (Free)
Thursday, November 6, 2025 | 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM at Vanguard Gifted Academy
This event is free and open to the public. Students in K-5 are invited to create a digital 3D model of a wearable pin to show appreciation for veterans.
  • Students in 4th and 5th grade can enter the national Future Engineers contest, with exciting prizes including a trip to Columbus, OH.
  • Designs will be 3D printed and available for pickup later.
  • Sign-up is required as seats are limited.
 
Noetic Math Contest (Registration Required)
Thursday, November 13, 2025 | 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM at Vanguard Gifted Academy
Students competing at a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, or 5th-grade math level are invited to participate in the Noetic Math Contest.
  • Cost: $10. Please note that fee waivers are available upon request for families who need financial assistance (provided by the school).
  • Registration Deadline: All participants must sign up by November 6th.
  • Recognition: The contest provides extensive awards, including National Honor Roll medals for the top 10% of participants.
 
Math Kangaroo Contest (Registration Required)
Vanguard Gifted Academy is excited to serve as a Math Kangaroo Center for the upcoming competition seasons. Math Kangaroo USA is a national nonprofit dedicated to helping students in grades K-12 love math by promoting problem-solving, logical reasoning, and critical thinking. The spring competition will be on Thursday, March 19, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM at Vanguard Gifted Academy.
 
This competition is open to the public for students in grades K-12. Interested families should sign up directly on the Math Kangaroo website.
