Batavia Woman’s Club Awards Six Batavia Middle Schoolers Scholarships to STEAM Summer Camps
Six middle school students received a total of nearly $3,000 in summer camp scholarships from the Batavia Woman’s Club. The money was raised via the annual Spring plant sale with flowers and vegetable plants from Schaefer Greenhouses, Inc.
Providing these summer camp scholarships demonstrate the club’s ongoing commitment to fostering educational growth and artistic exploration among local youth. The middle schoolers camp attendance is at a diverse range of STEAM based summer programs—from biotechnology labs to orchestral ensembles and from show choir to visual arts including:
- Hokusai Art Camp at College of DuPage
- Illinois Math & Science Academy Biotechnology Camp
- Fox Valley Youth Orchestra Camp
- SciTech Summer Camp
- Paramount School of Arts Musical Theater Camp
- Show Choir Camps of America
- Illinois School of Music Camp
Each student was selected based on the submission of a detailed application that outlined their aspirations and objectives for attending a summer camp, accompanied by a recommendation letter from a teacher.
The scholarships generously provided by the Batavia Woman’s Club, help empower students to discover and pursue their passions in STEAM fields. Each scholarship not only opens doors to specialized learning, but also nurtures lifelong curiosity, confidence, and creativity in Batavia’s next generation of citizens.
For more than 55 years, the Batavia Woman’s Club has raised funds through various activities such as multiple flower sales and more to offer STEAM camp scholarships. As a special treat for the BWC, each year, at the October meeting, we celebrate with the students and their parents who have been past recipients of the program as they share their specific camp experience through testimonials and performance.
