ARROWWOOD POINT ARCHERY COMPLEX NOW OPEN FOR PUBLIC USE IN ELBURN
GENEVA, IL — Following a successful grand opening celebration that welcomed more than 400 visitors, the Forest Preserve District of Kane County’s Arrowwood Point Archery Complex is now open for public use at Mill Creek Greenway Forest Preserve in Elburn.
The public archery facility offers dedicated spaces for traditional archery, bow-hunter practice and crossbow shooting in a safe, designated outdoor setting. Located at 02N253 Brundige Road in Elburn, the complex provides opportunities for recreational, educational and competitive archery activities for users of varying skill levels.
“Arrowwood Point Archery Complex is the only public archery range in Kane County and one of only a few public facilities of its kind in the Chicagoland area,” said Forest Preserve District Executive Director Benjamin Haberthur. “Whether someone is an experienced archer, preparing for hunting season or interested in learning a new outdoor skill, this facility provides a welcoming place to practice and enjoy the sport.”
The complex features three distinct ranges:
- An elevated range designed for bow-hunter practice, with shooting distances ranging from approximately 20 to 50 yards.
- A traditional range with 13 shooting lanes and target distances ranging from approximately 20 to 90 yards.
- A dedicated crossbow range with five shooting lanes, including an ADA-accessible lane, and target distances ranging from approximately 20 to 50 yards.
The archery complex is open from sunrise to sunset. On Tuesdays, the facility opens at 10 a.m. following routine maintenance and safety inspections.
A valid permit is required to use the range and must be displayed while shooting. Annual permits are available for Kane County residents for $40 and nonresidents for $65. Daily permits are also available for $10 for residents and $20 for nonresidents, while youth permits are $5. Permit fees support ongoing maintenance, operations and safety improvements at the facility.
The Arrowwood Point Archery Complex was made possible through a $600,000 Open Space Land Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) grant awarded by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. The archery complex is part of a larger $1.2 million project that also includes a picnic shelter, mowed trails, interpretive signage, restrooms, additional parking and a 62-acre tallgrass prairie restoration.
Permits may be purchased online at www.kaneforest.com/archery. Visitors can also find complete range rules, hours and permit information on the District’s website at www.kaneforest.com/arrowwood.
