Area High School Students Awarded Scholarships

 Batavia, Ill.: The resident association of Covenant Living at the Holmstad recently awarded scholarships to eight graduating seniors during a recent celebration dinner. All the recipients are employed at the senior living community in Batavia. 

The major source of scholarship funds comes is proceeds from the sale of merchandise at the community’s annual Bazaar held each fall. Recipients of the scholarships submitted applications detailing their work experience, school and community involvement, and future goals. Each of the eight students was awarded $1,500 to be used for continuing their education. 

"We see these young students every day and know how important continuing their education beyond high school is to them,” said Carol Patterson, scholarship committee chair. “Providing some assistance with higher education expenses is one way we can help make a difference in their lives, just as they make a difference in our lives each and every day.”

Those receiving scholarships in 2025 include students from the following schools:

• Nora Doherty, St. Charles North High School
• Ethan Edington, Geneva High School
• Benjamin Castello, Batavia High School
• Owen O’Brien, Geneva High School
• Matthew Ortiz, Geneva High School
• Chase Wells, Batavia High School
• Eve Peterson, Home Schooled
• Magnolia MacDoughal, St. Charles North High School
