League of Women Voters Hosts Forum for Candidates in Sugar Grove, WCC Board of Trustees, and Kaneland CUSD #302

Candidates will appear on the April 1st Illinois Consolidated Election Ballot

BATAVIA, IL – The League of Women Voters of Central Kane County, will host a five-part candidate forum in Sugar Grove, featuring candidates running in contested races for the offices of Sugar Grove Fire Protection District Trustee, Waubonsee Community College Trustee, Village of Sugar Grove Trustee, Village of Sugar Grove President, and Kaneland CUSD #302 Board Member. All candidates will appear on the April 1, 2025 Illinois Consolidated Election ballot in their respective districts.

The League of Women Voters partnered with the Sugar Grove Public Library and the Sugar Grove Chamber of Commerce to plan the forum. The event will take place at 6pm on February 24, 2025, in the Academic and Professional Center (APC Building) at Waubonsee Community College, Route 47 at Waubonsee Drive in Sugar Grove. Members of the public who wish to attend are encouraged to arrive early. Doors will open to the public at 5:45pm. The event will be live-streamed and available for later viewing on the websites of the League of Women Voters of Central Kane County (lwvckcil.com) and the Illinois Voter Guide (illinoisvoterguide.org).

All candidates will be allowed time at the beginning and at the end of their respective segments for opening and closing statements. During each segment, candidates will respond to audience questions submitted during registration and throughout the event. Audience members’ questions will be reviewed by trained LWV members for clarity and relevance and will be asked by the League Moderator.

The forum will be divided into five segments, by office. The segments are outlined below in the sequence planned for the live event. The invited candidates are listed in alphabetical order, by last name.

  1. Candidates for Fire Trustee, Sugar Grove Fire Protection District (6-year term): David Blankenship, Timothy Cicero, Susan Cuomo
  2. Candidates for Trustee, Waubonsee Community College 516 (6-year term): Greg Dobbins, Daniel Jaquez, Tina Medlin Willson
  3. Candidates for Trustee, Village of Sugar Grove (4-year term): Nora London, Michael Roskopf, Anthony “Tony” Speciale, James “Jamie” White
  4. Candidates for President, Village of Sugar Grove (4-year term): Jennifer Konen, Susan Stillwell
  5. Candidates for Members of the Board of Education, Kaneland CUSD #302 (4-year term): Addam Gonzales, Aaron Lawler, Jennifer Simmons, Scott Stalcup
