From Train Station to History Preservation, Batavia Depot Museum Celebrates 50 Years in the Community
BATAVIA, IL – In 1855, a depot on Batavia’s east side began welcoming rail travelers. In 1975, it began a new life as the community’s history museum. Sweet Tradition Meets Milestones - Maple Sugaring Days are March 1-2 at Leroy Oakes Forest Preserve
GENEVA, IL — The Forest Preserve District of Kane County invites you to join the 30th annual Maple Sugaring Days, a sweet and historic celebration of all things maple, on March 1-2 from noon to 3 p.m. at LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve in St. Charles. Naturalists will demonstrate how to tap a maple tree and give you the chance to drill and set your own tap. Watch sap simmer over an open fire as it transforms into syrup. The Batavia community came together in a big way for this year’s Souper Bowl of Caring, collecting an incredible 3,133 lbs of soup to benefit the Batavia Interfaith Food Pantry.
