From Train Station to History Preservation, Batavia Depot Museum Celebrates 50 Years in the Community
BATAVIA, IL – In 1855, a depot on Batavia’s east side began welcoming rail travelers. In 1975, it began a new life as the community’s history museum. In 2025, it is Batavia’s history hub and a fixture on the Riverwalk.Batavia Depot Museum’s spring exhibit, “The Museum a Community Built,” celebrates its 50th anniversary, telling the story of the community uniting to create and raise funds for a museum, acquire and move the old east-side depot and restore it to house Batavia’s history museum as a Batavia Park

Sweet Tradition Meets Milestones - Maple Sugaring Days are March 1-2 at Leroy Oakes Forest Preserve
GENEVA, IL — The Forest Preserve District of Kane County invites you to join the 30th annual Maple Sugaring Days, a sweet and historic celebration of all things maple, on March 1-2 from noon to 3 p.m. at LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve in St. Charles. Naturalists will demonstrate how to tap a maple tree and give you the chance to drill and set your own tap. Watch sap simmer over an open fire as it transforms into syrup. BATAVIA, IL – On Thursday, March 6, 2025, Batavia United Way will be hosting our 8th Annual Soup’s On – Soup Tasting Fundraiser at Pal Joey’s, 31 N. River St., Batavia. We are stewing up a great event! Tickets are now on sale; only 140 tickets will be available for the event. Batavia Scores Big in the Souper Bowl of Caring, Collecting 3,133 Pounds of Soup for Local Families
The Batavia community came together in a big way for this year’s Souper Bowl of Caring, collecting an incredible 3,133 lbs of soup to benefit the Batavia Interfaith Food Pantry.
