BPS101 Board of Education Announces New Director of Operations and Facilities

Batavia, IL - The BPS101 Board of Education is pleased to announce that Jon Mickle has been selected as the District’s next Director of Operations and Facilities, effective July 1, 2026. Jon’s appointment comes as part of a thoughtful leadership transition within the District. Following the retirement of David Andrews, longtime Athletic Director at Batavia High School, current Director of Operations and Facilities Mark Anderson will assume the Athletic Director role at the end of this school year, creating an opportunity to welcome Jon to the BPS101 leadership team.

Jon is looking forward to contributing to a community that clearly takes pride in providing outstanding opportunities for students. “Batavia has an exceptional reputation in education. The fine arts department is top-notch, and the athletic programs are annual state contenders across the board. The opportunity to be part of such a strong district and to work alongside the administration and facilities team is truly exciting to me.”

Jon currently serves as the Director of Facilities at Community Unit School District 300 in Algonquin, where he oversees operations across 3.2 million square feet spanning 30 buildings. With more than 28 years of experience leading facilities teams serving school districts and their communities, he has a strong track record of collaborating to achieve district goals.

When asked about his top priorities, Jon stated, “Leading the district’s Warm, Safe, and Dry initiative in close collaboration with our team and district partners, while strategically evaluating and planning critical short and long-term capital maintenance projects. Through these efforts, we will continue to foster safe, clean, and future-ready learning environments that are flexible and adaptable to the evolving educational landscape, ultimately benefiting students, staff, and the community.”

Originally from Philadelphia, Jon has proudly called Illinois home since meeting his amazing wife, Jenn. They recently celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary and are blessed with five children, ages 13 to 25, along with their family’s favorite dog, Ranger.
