Batavia Scores Big in the Souper Bowl of Caring, Collecting 3,133 Pounds of Soup for Local Families

The Batavia community came together in a big way for this year’s Souper Bowl of Caring, collecting an incredible 3,133 lbs of soup to benefit the Batavia Interfaith Food Pantry. This friendly competition between Batavia’s East Side and West Side fired up schools and community members to help tackle food insecurity—one can at a time.

All Batavia Public Schools participated in the collection, with students, staff, and families rallying to bring in donations. The wider Batavia community also pitched in, proving that when it comes to supporting neighbors in need, this town plays as one team.

After a hard-fought battle, the East Side emerged victorious with 1,685 pounds of soup, while the West Side put up an impressive 1,448 pounds. However, the real winner is the Batavia Interfaith Food Pantry, which will now be able to provide warm, nourishing meals to families throughout the community.

“The generosity of our schools and residents never ceases to amaze us,” said Eileen Pasero, Executive Director of the Batavia Interfaith Food Pantry & Clothes Closet. “This event is not just about competition—it’s about coming together as a community to fight hunger. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our schools & community, our soup shelves will be full for months! We’re grateful to everyone who participated.”

The Souper Bowl of Caring is part of the national Tackle Hunger movement that transforms the energy of the Super Bowl into an opportunity to give back. Batavia’s incredible response is a testament to its commitment to ensuring no family goes without a meal.
