Description
The City of Batavia's Emergency Services & Disaster Agency (ESDA) is a volunteer organization that supports the City's emergency preparedness, response, and recovery efforts. Working alongside public safety agencies and City departments, ESDA helps protect the community before, during, and after emergencies.
ESDA's mission is to provide trained volunteer personnel to assist the City through the four phases of emergency management:

Mitigation – Reducing the impacts of potential hazards.

Preparedness – Planning, training, and educating the community before emergencies occur.

Response – Assisting emergency responders during incidents and disasters.

Recovery – Supporting community recovery following emergencies.
ESDA Responsibilities
Batavia ESDA supports emergency management efforts through a variety of services, including:

Operating and maintaining the City's outdoor warning siren system.

Educating residents on emergency preparedness and disaster safety.
-
Developing and conducting emergency management training for City staff and volunteers.

Coordinating with relief organizations to support disaster response and recovery.

Assessing potential hazards and notifying City officials of emerging threats.

Supporting the Incident Command System (ICS) during emergency incidents.

Assisting with public information and emergency communications.

Coordinating emergency lighting and portable power generation at incident scenes.
-
Supporting City departments during emergencies and special incidents.

Managing the City's emergency supplies and backup communications equipment.

Assisting with disaster recovery operations and community restoration efforts.
