Position Summary

The Carpet Cleaning Technician is responsible for delivering high-quality carpet, upholstery, area rug, tile cleaning, and air duct cleaning services to residential and commercial clients. This role involves operating cleaning equipment, applying appropriate cleaning solutions, and ensuring customer satisfaction through thorough, safe, and efficient service.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assessment & Preparation

    • Inspect carpets and upholstery to identify fabric types, stains, and areas requiring special attention

    • Move and protect furniture and valuables as needed to access cleaning areas

    • Pre-vacuum surfaces to remove loose dirt and debris

  • Cleaning & Treatment

    • Select and mix appropriate cleaning agents (steam, hot water extraction, low-moisture, dry cleaning) based on material and soil level

    • Operate carpet cleaning machines, extractors, and spot-cleaning equipment safely and effectively

    • Treat stubborn stains using industry-approved stain removers and techniques

    • Rinse and extract cleaning solutions completely to prevent residue and rapid re-soil

  • Quality Control & Customer Interaction

    • Inspect cleaned areas to ensure consistent, high-quality results

    • Provide customers with before-and-after explanations of work performed

    • Offer maintenance tips and recommend additional services (e.g., upholstery cleaning, stain protection)

    • Record work completed and any follow-up actions required

  • Equipment Maintenance & Safety

    • Maintain and clean equipment, hoses, and nozzles after each job

    • Perform routine checks and report any malfunctions or safety concerns

    • Adhere to all safety guidelines, including proper handling of chemicals and use of personal protective equipment (PPE)

    • Dispose of wastewater and chemicals in compliance with local regulations


Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience & Education

    • High school diploma or equivalent

    • Previous experience in professional carpet cleaning or a related field preferred but on the job training is provided

    • Certification (e.g., IICRC) is a plus

  • Technical Skills (On the Job Training Provided)

    • Familiarity with various cleaning methods and equipment (steam extraction, bonnet cleaning, encapsulation)

    • Knowledge of textile care and stain-removal chemistry

    • Basic mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting equipment

  • Interpersonal Skills

    • Strong customer-service orientation and communication skills

    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

    • Punctual, reliable, and detail-oriented

  • Physical Requirements

    • Ability to lift and maneuver 50+ lb equipment and furniture

    • Comfortable standing, kneeling, and bending for extended periods

    • Capable of working in varied environments (homes, offices, vehicles, etc)

    • **We work often with pets and cleaning soaps and deodorizers, would not be a good fit if allergic to cats or dogs or cleaning products**


Working Conditions & Schedule

  • Possible full-time, part-time, or seasonal schedules available; weekend and evening shifts may be required

  • We only hire W-2 employees and must fill out Form I-9 prior to first day of employment. We do not hire as independent contractors

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

  • Uniform provided; able to maintain a professional appearance and daily cleanliness
