ALL THE WORLD’S A STAGE – SOME OF US JUST HAVE BETTER LIGHTING The Albright Theatre Company Presents I Hate Hamlet The Albright Theatre Company’s 39th Season opens in September with I Hate Hamlet byPaul Rudnick. Acclaim from a starring role in a hit TV series; a beautiful girlfriend; the perfectNew York apartment; and the chance to play Hamlet in Central Park – Andrew Rally really has it all!Or does he? Andrew's TV series has been canceled; his girlfriend is clinging to her virginity with unyielding conviction; and, while everyone else regards Hamlet as the role of a lifetime, he happensto despise it. When Andrew moves into an apartment that was once inhabited by John Barrymore, Andrew’s agent, Lillian, begins reminiscing about her brief romance with the late actor and a séance is planned in order to summon Barrymore’s ghost to inspire Andrew. Barrymore “returns” alright, and fromthat moment on Andrew finds that his life is no longer his own and he is forced to choose between art and the almighty dollar. “This is such a fun show”, remarks Director, Jennifer Ring, “its lightand refreshing and just what you need at the end of a long hot summer. We have a fun cast which makes working on this production even more enjoyable. There’s a lot of laughter at rehearsals, which iskind of what it’s all about.” Leading the laughter is JP Quirk (South Elgin) who brings actor, Andrew Rally, to life while Rich Jacob (North Aurora) brings John Barrymore “back” from the dead. Rally’s sweet and pure girlfriend, Deirdre McDavey, is played by Katy Steele of Aurora. Add Real Estate Broker/Spiritual Medium, Felicia Dantine (Shelly Rolph of Geneva); Rally’s Agent, Lillian Troy (Lori Rohr of Palatine) and oily showbiz friend, Gary Peter Lefkowitz (Alexander Seymour of Aurora) and youhave a recipe for hilarity. The cast is directed by Jennifer Ring of Batavia and supported by Producer/Stage Manager Veronica Krystal of Bloomingdale. “I am so excited to start this season and to show everyone the work we’ve put into I Hate Hamlet, as well as the improvements that have been madeto our theatre space.”, remarks Ring, “With the help and support of the City of Batavia a huge effort has been made over the last few months to really improve the overall Albright Theatre experience, and I think that everyone will be impressed with the results.” I Hate Hamlet will run weekends September 7th – 22nd. Performance times are Friday and Saturday evenings at 8pm and Sunday afternoons at2pm. Rated PG-14. The Albright Theatre Company, 100 N.
