The connection to mental health is central to group EMDR because it offers a supportive and evidence-based therapeutic technique for addressing emotional wounds, especially those related to anxiety, trauma, depression, and PTSD. For individuals with social anxiety, group EMDR provides a safe space to process distressing memories and emotions, helping to reduce the overwhelming intensity of anxious feelings. This approach allows individuals to confront their fears in a controlled environment, helping them reframe negative experiences and manage anxiety more effectively.
In a group setting, the shared healing experience can offer a sense of connection and understanding, which can be especially beneficial for those who often feel isolated due to social anxiety. The group dynamic provides opportunities for validation, reducing feelings of being misunderstood or alone in their struggles. This support helps foster a sense of community, which can encourage self-compassion and empower individuals to overcome anxiety.
Group EMDR not only promotes emotional regulation and recovery but also encourages personal growth by gradually reducing the barriers social anxiety creates. Through this process, participants can experience increased self-awareness and gain tools to navigate social situations with more confidence, ultimately leading to both emotional healing and greater personal transformation.

Facilitator: Joslyn Barajas, LSW
About the Facilitator: As an EMDR-based therapist, I work alongside individuals from all walks of life, helping them navigate the complexities of trauma, healing, and personal growth. Healing is never a solo journey – it’s a collective effort, rooted in compassion, support, and the understanding that every voice deserves to be heard.
My own path has taught me that healing is not a linear process. It’s one filled with ups and downs, victories and setbacks. But it is also a journey that is made stronger by community, culture, and the wisdom of those who came before us. As I stand here today, I am reminded of the power within each of us to reclaim our voice and embrace our identity, no matter where we’ve been or what we’ve faced.
Investment: $20 per session
