The collapse of financial institutions, the demise of several major businesses, and recent scandals in government, business, and the sports world have some common themes, among which is the demonstration of poor character. Character applies to organizations as much as it does to individuals. The problem is many company leaders ignore this critical element of company success because they don’t know how to find the River of Character within their own walls. A River of Character exists in every organization, and the quality of that River determines the organizational energy employees produce and the level of performance the organization achieves. Dr. Benedetto’s research revealed seven attributes of high-performing, character-based organizations that are measurable, achievable, and necessary for sustainable performance. He will share these attributes with us during the March 2010 Chamber luncheon, including the model for character-based organizational excellence that evolved from his research and serves as the core of the book he is currently writing. He will also share the essentials for evaluating character in your own organization.
