Fermi Community Orchestra presents Haunted Romatics

Description

The French Romantic composer Hector Berlioz, desperately in love with an actress who does not share his passion, dreams he's being marched to the guillotine, and crash! - off comes his head Set to music as part of his Symphonie Fantastique, this and other "Haunted Romantic" selections are featured in the upcoming November 8 concert by the Fermi Community Orchestra (FCO), keeping the Halloween vibe alive for an extra week. Witchcraft is afoot in Night on Bald Mountain and the tragic couple Romeo and Juliette make an appearance as their warring families face off in the fight of the (16") century. A solo cello plays the voice of a cantor at Yom Kippur, inviting outcasts to pray with the faithful. This free concert at Crimi Auditorium at Aurora University is the first of the orchestra's 2026-2027 season. Founded in 2018 and based in Batavia, IL, the Fermi Community Orchestra has expanded to include the full symphonic orchestra, the Fermi Community Strings, the bluegrass-style Fermi Fiddlers, and other chamber ensembles. All are dedicated to creating community in Chicago's far western suburbs through music. Volunteer musicians, amateur and professional, perform great works of music in free concerts for the public, including classical and pops repertoire, as well as music from musicals and movies. Concerts for children take place in the spring.
