Description
Take care of older Adults without destroying YOURSELF. Today, the Sandwich Generation is a triple-decker club! We support parents, grandparents, in-laws, other older adults, children and grandchildren while we try to work, stay married and plan for our own healthy retirement.
At the end of this presentation, attendees will be able to:
- Describe the factors that make the 21st Century Sandwich Generation a triple-decker club.
- Counsel and support themselves and other caregivers to stay out of Egypt ( D'Nile isn't just a river) and directly handle the guilt, grief, family conflicts and responsibility from which many caregivers seek to hide.
- Design an eldercare strategy that allows caregivers to function as the quarterback of the caregiving team, not the line staff.
Dr. Cheryl Woodson is Director of the Woodson Center for Adult Healthcare. Her book, To Survive Caregiving: A Daughter's Experience, A Doctor's Advice on finding Hope, Help and Health was recently selected by AARP as one of only 10 eldercare titles.
Dr. Woodson brings tremendous care, compassion and wisdom to a deeply difficult topic for anyone caring for the elderly.
