Bike Week in Batavia. Several activities all week long. Batavia, IL – The City of Batavia and the Batavia Bicycle Commission wants to encourage people to participate in National Bike Month by hostinga variety of events during the month of May. National Bike Month is an opportunity to celebrate the unique power of the bicycle and the many reasons we ride. Whether you bike to work or school; tosave money or time; to preserve your health or the environment; to explore your community or get toyour destination, get involved in Bike Month in Batavia. • Walk & Roll to School Day - Wednesday,May 8: School staff, parents, Bicycle Commission members and the police and fire departments willbe at the schools in the morning to offer encouragement to the students. Let’s show our children how much fun and how simple it is to live an active lifestyle. • National Bike to Work Week Kick Off– Monday, May 13: Bike commuters are invited to stop by Panera Bread in downtown Batavia between 6:00 and 9:00am for free coffee and bagels. The Batavia Bicycle Commission will be on hand to offer minor bicycle repairs and advice about bike routes and gear. Bike commuters are also invited to stopby the Batavia Police Department’s front desk once this week to enter to win bike related prizes. The winner’s name will be drawn at the Bike-In Movie on Friday evening. • Bike Ride with City Officials – Tuesday, May 14: This leisurely ride will be a tour of some of Batavia’s hidden places. • Ride to the Kane County Cougars Game – Thursday, May 16: Bring the whole family as we bike rideto see a Kane County Cougars game. We will meet at the south side of City Hall at 5:00pm and then ride together to the Cougar’s stadium for the 6:30pm game. We will ride entirely on a bike path to thegame and return after the game so remember to bring your bike lights and helmets. Prizes for Bike to Work Week commuters will be given out this evening. • Free Bike Parking at Cocktails on Clark - Saturday, May 18: Avoid parking hassles and ride your bike to the Batavia Main Street sponsored event “Cocktails on Clark.” The Batavia Bicycle Commission will provide you with monitored safe bike parking.
