Description
The Holmstad Town Center Gallery will feature the works of award-winning miniature painting artist Edward Cook beginning Feb. 23 through April 20, 2015. An artist's reception is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 28, 6-8 p.m., in the Centrium. The Holmstad, a not-for-profit, faith-based continuing care retirement community operated by Covenant Retirement Communities, is located at 700 W. Fabyan Parkway, Batavia. A Batavia resident, Cook is a self-taught artist who specializes in miniature paintings, which is considered a fine art specialty. His acrylic paintings typically measure 4.75" x 2.75" and tend to reflect his love of nature. Rural landscapes, old buildings, barns, streams, waterfalls and water lilies are some of his favorite renditions. One of 38 American miniature artists invited to London to participate in the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Royal Miniature Society, which is under the patronage of Queen Elizabeth II, his artwork has also received honors from the Miniature Artists of America and Whiskey Painters of America. The artist's reception and refreshments are free. The exhibit featuring miniature paintings is open daily from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. through April 20, 2015.
