DESCRIPTION:Water Street Studios' Newest Solo Exhibitions Battle Winter Using Color \n\n \n\nBatavia\, IL Warm up with the colorful works of Rosalie Waranius Vass and Marisa Muro this February at Water Street Studios. On February 8\, 2019 Water Street Studios will host the opening reception for Rosalie Waranius Vass' exhibition "A Place You've Never Been Before" in the Dempsey Family Gallery located on the first floor of Water Street Studios. Marisa Muro's exhibition\, "Breaking Concrete" will be on display in the Chicago Capital Gallery located on the second floor of Water Street Studios. \n\n \n\nRosalie Waranius Vass is a premier Fox Valley artist that has shown her work locally\, nationally\, and internationally throughout her illustrious career. Vass uses transparent watercolor in a non-traditional manner. Vass indulges in turning the paint from transparent to opaque using a layering technique. Vass shares\, "It is time-consuming\, but the results are exciting and invigorating to the artist and viewer. This has bene my method since 1987." Don't miss the stunning color and strong compositions that will be on display in Vass' solo exhibition titled\, "A Place You've Never Been Before". \n\n \n\nMarisa Muro is a Mexican-American painter from Chicago who derives her inspiration from the natural world using mixed media techniques. Muro's family emigrated from Mexico in the early 1980s. Muro shares\, "We settled in Chicago where I spent most of my childhood. Growing up in poverty has definitely influenced a lot of my work\, and how I work. It prepared me for the instability that comes with making art for a living." Muro's artwork is shaped by her experiences and continues to travel as she does. Make sure to visit the Chicago Capital Gallery located on the second floor of Water Street Studios to witness the artwork of Marisa Muro. \n\n \n\nOpening reception will be held Friday\, February 8\, 2019 from 6:00-9:00 p.m. The artists will be present at the reception to discuss their work and answer questions. In addition\, appetizers will be provided by Gaetano's Batavia\, cash bar featuring beer from Solemn Oath Brewery\, and wine will be available for purchase. This event is free and open to the public. We encourage all visitors to make a $5 donation at the door to support arts programming at Water Street Studios. A special thank you to event sponsor\, K.Hollis Jewelers and Batavia Enterprises Inc.
