SUMMARY:Talk of the Town Toastmasters Club Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Our last meeting's theme was\, "Does Mother or Father Know Best?".  For our Table Topics\, John\, the Topics Master presented a task for us.  Living the 1800s there is an open slot to be a part of the "Oregon Trail" journey.  How can you be a part\, and why should you be?\n\n\n\nThis coming Friday\, May 27:\n\nOne word that means so much in doing Toastmasters:  Wisdom.  Do you have the wisdom to know what is right and what is done well in giving speeches?\n\nWhen will you be called upon to do a presentation in a real world scenario? A toast at a wedding? Saying something at a graduation? Being asked to stand up and say a few words at the spur of the moment? Maybe your boss asks you\, at the last minute\, to do a presentation\, because the other person was not available\, sick\, etc. \n\nIf you want to reduce your nervousness in front of a crowd\, to gain confidence when speaking\, or even to refine already-strong speaking skills\, Talk of the Town Toastmasters is the right place for you. The added bonus? Our club gives you great opportunities to develop and refine leadership skills. Come join us for a free meeting or two.\n\nEach meeting has a different theme. The theme for this meeting is "Wisdom".\n\nTalk of the Town Toastmasters was established in 2009 to bring Toastmasters International to Batavia\, Illinois. Our club is made up of a great group of people who are each committed to becoming better public speakers and more effective leaders. About 20 members and guests -- who come from all walks of life -- attend each weekly meeting.\n\nPlease plan to arrive at your first meeting about ten minutes early so we can greet you\, meet you\, and answer your questions. We look forward to seeing you!
