DESCRIPTION:The workshop is divided into three\, 30 minute sessions followed by a panel Q  Nathan Conroy\, DC\; and Deepa Deshmukh\, MPH\, RD\, CDE\, BC-ADM. Ms. Johnson\, a clinical educator at Provena Mercy Medical Center\, will discuss childhood obesity\, itscauses\, the emotional\, physical and social complications caused by it\, and what parents can do to prevent it. Dr. Conroy\, a highly respected local chiropractor\, will discuss the three main types of stress present in our lives and how to reduce their effects on ourselves and our children. Ms. Deshmukh is a registered dietitian and health consultant with DuPage Dietitians. She will discuss the importance of good nutrition for children’s developing brains\, how to establish good eating habits for the entire family\, and what to put in your pantry for quick\, healthy snacks and meals. \n“As a school\, we feel strongly about providing useful information to all parents in our community\,” said GeorgeMarkham\, Executive Director at the school. “Creating a healthy lifestyle for our children can be a challenge\, so we decided to bring in these experts as part of our ongoing Parenting Workshop series.”\nConcurrent educational (and fun!) children’s activities on these same topics will be available andkids age three to 10 are encouraged to attend.
