Utility Worker

The Utility Worker will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our bus service by performing various tasks, including staging buses, assisting drivers, conducting small repairs on vehicles, handling minor building repairs, performing cleaning duties, and managing the pick-up and delivery of vehicles to vendors. The ideal candidate must be detail-oriented, possess a strong work ethic, and be able to work independently as well as part of a team.

Responsibility Profile:

Staging Buses: 

  • Organize and arrange buses in the staging area according to the daily schedule and driver assignments. 
  • Ensure that buses are fueled, clean, and ready for departure. 

Assisting the Drivers at Pull Out: 

  • Support bus drivers by assisting with pre-departure inspections and necessary preparations. 
  • Provide guidance to drivers regarding route information, safety procedures, and any other assistance required. 

Small Repairs on All Vehicles: 

  • Perform minor repairs on buses and other vehicles, including but not limited to, changing bulbs, fuses, windshield wipers, and small engine repairs. 
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify any maintenance or repair needs and report them to the appropriate personnel. 

Minor Building Repairs: 

  • Handle minor repairs within the facilities, such as repairing doors, windows, plumbing fixtures, and electrical fixtures. 
  • Ensure the general maintenance and upkeep of the building, including painting, patching walls, and performing routine maintenance tasks. 

Minor Cleaning Duties: 

  • Assist with the cleaning and sanitization of buses, facilities, and common areas. 
  • Empty trash bins, sweep floors, and maintain cleanliness standards. 

Pickup and Delivery of Vehicles to Vendors: 

  • Safely operate company vehicles to transport buses and other vehicles to and from vendor locations for servicing and repairs. 
  • Maintain accurate records of pick-up and delivery schedules, mileage, and any maintenance or repair work completed. 

Requirements: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent. 
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (for pick-up and delivery duties). 
  • Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in the transportation or automotive industry. 
  • Basic mechanical skills and knowledge of vehicle systems. 
  • Ability to perform small repairs and maintenance tasks on vehicles. 
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of quality. 
  • Physical stamina to handle manual tasks and lift heavy objects when required. 
  • Flexibility to work occasional weekends and evenings, if needed.
