Substance Use Prevention Educator
Job Summary
Provide age appropriate substance use prevention programs and education to families and youth. Conduct community education about substance use and agency services for groups and organizations in Kane County. This position requires travel to local schools.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree preferred;
· Bilingual, Spanish-speaking preferred;
. DCFS training and mandated reporter certificate required;
· Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing;
· Excellent crisis intervention and problem-solving skills;
· Strong interpersonal skills;
· Computer proficiency;
· Reliable transportation;
. Acceptance and respect for diversity of culture, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, ability and religious beliefs
Examples of Duties
· Present age-appropriate education programs on substance use to students in area middle schools and high schools.
· Present education programs on substance use to professional staff and parents in area schools.
· Prepare and update prevention education materials for distribution throughout service area.
· Provide information and referral to youth, adults and families seeking services or support.
· Input accurate and complete data into agency database.
· Submit all required documentation in a timely manner.
· Participate in regular staff meetings, staff training programs and supervisory sessions.
· Contribute to the development of positive team relations.
· Demonstrate integrity and professionalism in interactions with staff, clients, volunteers and donors.
· Other duties as assigned.
· Act in accordance with MGI policies and procedures.
Job Type: Full Time
Salary: $21.00 per hour
